The Alpha range* of stereo amplifiers maintains Arcam's reputation
as a producer of the world's finest affordable hi-fi components.
Each amplifier is built on a single glass fibre circuit board
with no additional wiring, giving predictable and consistent
levels of performance. Every amplifier also has a heavy duty
toroidal transformer, which ensures that they deliver a high
power output for their size, along with minimal background hum
and noise.

The
amplifiers rugged, high current VMOSFET output stages
are fast and capable of delivering large peak currents
into a wide range of loudspeakers.
The comprehensive output protection system incorporates relay switching/muting on all models; this comes into effect only at switch-on and switch-off, or under conditions of heavy overload or abuse, so as not to affect the sound quality during normal play.
Integrated amplifiers are fitted with special limited-range tone controls and a direct switch which bypasses both the tone and balance controls for ultimate sonic performance.

This range of amplifiers uses an improved design of speaker terminal. These accept numerous types of speaker cable connections, including spades, pins, bare wires and Arcam's own 4mm connectors to BFA specification.
Finally, every Arcam integrated amplifier incorporates a set of properly buffered pre-amplifier output sockets, to which external power amplifiers can be easily connected.
This allows you to increase your system's total power output and to drive extra loudspeakers, for example in multi-room systems. And, if you have bi-wireable loudspeakers, we particularly recommend adding an Arcam power amplifier in order to bi-amplify your main speakers. The outboard power amplifier is used to drive the speakers' bass units, whilst the integrated amplifier is assigned to the treble units. This upgrade can bring remarkable sonic benefits in terms of clarity and control, for a relatively modest extra outlay.
