With the relevant security, members of that organisation can then gain access to private company documents and information. A company Intranet might, for example, include information on contact details, shared company documents and meeting dates.

Extranets are essentially Websites that are available to a global audience over the Internet but require users to authenticate themselves. A company Extranet might, for example, allow a company's clients to check the status of their projects on-line.
